| Urban Policy and Research As Urban Neighborhood Services seeks to be part of the national dialogue regarding how to improve social conditions in America's urban communities, we realize that our work is done against the backdrop of governmental efforts to also meet the needs of inner-city residents. The 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, has appointed the first White House Director of Urban Policy. This is an encouraging signal that the needs and well-being of Urban communities are part of the national agenda and that there is a renewed federal commitment to improving America's inner cities.
